Cubase/Nuendo
Cubase and Nuendo have been pioneers in the audio industry when it comes to DAWs. Cubase is tailored for music production, while Nuendo has built-in features for game audio, surround sound and immersive audio, and film.
Ableton Live
This program has grown popular over the years and is being used by some of the biggest artists today. Ableton live is a well featured program for music production and live music.
Reaper
For a free audio program, Reaper has all the feature an engineer needs to record, mix, and produce audio. After using the program for 14 days, they ask for users to pay $50; however, you can extend your trial if necessary.
Pro Tools First
Pro Tools First is only for users looking to understand the Pro Tools interface. This is a very limited version of Pro Tools. Please note that you cannot start a session on Pro Tools First and continue it on a regular version of Pro Tools later. It’s purely for practice.
Six Figure Home Studio Podcast
The SFHS podcast is a highly informal show discussing the business aspects of being an audio engineer. It is hosted by two audio engineers who run their own business. One is a mixing engineer and the other is a mastering engineer. I recommend this podcast for those looking to become and audio entrepreneur.
Recording Studio Rockstars
Recording Studio Rockstars is a show for those looking to gain insight and tips for audio production from those working in the industry.
Working Class Audio
This podcasts is interview based and hosts audio engineers who started their own companies. It’s a great resource into understanding how people got started and where they are now.
Master Class and Adobe Suite Download
CSU Entertainment off subscriptions to Master Class and the full Adobe Suite at no cost. Master Class is a well produced learning platform with classes taught by industry names in a plethora of topics. This includes a production class taught by Timbaland, Deadmau5, Hans Zimmer, and more. Also, you will get the entire Adobe Suite which includes Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.
BECA Sound Library
The BECA department stores thousands of sound effects on SFSU Box where students can access and download audio files for academic use.
